Los Lakers ven más cerca su pase a la final del Oeste tras arrasar a los Houston Rockets en el quinto partido de la serie por 118-78, una victoria en la que ofrecieron una imagen muy distinta a la mostrada el domingo pasado, durante el cuarto partido, según Pau Gasol.
"Es difícil explicar las diferencias entre el domingo y hoy", admitió el español acerca de la derrota del día 10 por 99-87 en Houston. "Hoy parecíamos un equipo diferente", reconoció.
"Hoy nos aseguramos de que todos salíamos al cien por cien y sin dar nada por sentado", añadió el ala-pívot catalán, quien es consciente de que su rival "no se va a rendir" porque "ya lo ha demostrado anteriormente".
Las claves de la clara victoria lograda hoy por los californianos, según Gasol, fueron la mayor intensidad y agresividad con las que su equipo afrontó el duelo. "Creemos que podemos mantener este nivel el jueves -fecha del sexto envite-, y jugando así tendremos opciones, esperamos ganar", comentó. "Estamos en disposición de ir a Houston y seguir adelante", añadió.
Gasol también habló sobre la mejora de Andrew Bynum, hoy titular por las molestias en la espalda de Lamar Odom. "Ha mostrado confianza y va cogiendo ritmo; tiene margen de mejora y debe dominar más, porque tiene el tamaño y las cualidades para ello", manifestó el español, nada ajeno a las críticas vertidas sobre los suyos en los últimos días.
"Es divertido", confesó. "Lo importante es que nos mantengamos concentrados en nuestro trabajo, en cada partido; esto es para lo que hemos luchado todo el año e intentamos olvidarnos de lo que se dice, porque no nos ayuda", indicó.
Por último, recalcó que hoy los Lakers demostraron que son "un gran equipo", y que si luchan "duro" y "unidos durante los 48 minutos", los resultados son "muy buenos".
