Wayman Tisdale - 1964-2009

Esta, la temporada 1996/97 sería la última de Tisdale en la NBA, ya que a los 33 años, decidía retirarse del basket profesional, para dedicarse a la música, su otra gran pasión.
Como músico, Tisdale fue un bajista que aprendió por amor a la música, nunca aprendió a escribir música, ni como se llamaban las notas ni de que forma escribirlas, pero a pesar de eso, el escribir a letra y música de sus discos. Un día después que el ex jugador de los Bulls de Chicago Corie Blount fuera sentenciado a un año de cárcel por posesión de marihuana, el alero Darius Miles, de los Grizzlies de Memphis, ha sido detenido por la misma razón.

De acuerdo al informe policial, Miles fue detenido por los agentes en una infracción de tráfico y después de inspeccionar su automóvil se le encontró la droga. Miles se encuentra en libertad condicional tras haber pagado una fianza.

La detención del jugador de los Memphis se produce después de que éste no utilizara los intermitentes y además fuera multado por llevar un carné de conducir suspendido.

Cuando el automóvil que conducía Miles iba a ser retirado por la grúa, se revisó y los agentes encontraron una bolsa con una cantidad menor de marihuana.

Miles, que generó la polémica con su llegada a los Grizzlies al forzar a los Trail Blazers de Portland para pagarles el contrato que tenía en vigor, disputó 35 partidos con el equipo de Memphis para conseguir un promedio de 3,5 puntos.

Hasta el momento hubo cuatro paises que se interesaron al respecto del mismo que serían Puerto Rico, Canadá, Uruguay y Argentina. Estas deben presentar la candidatura de forma oficial antes del 22 de mayo de 2009, ya que las fechas del torneo se mantinenen sin alteración (del 26 de agosto al 6 de septiembre de este año). Este torneo es clasificatorio al Mundial Turquia 2010.

Los Boston Celtics consiguieron otro triunfo apelando a la épica al remontar una desventaja de 14 puntos en el cuarto periodo para vencer por 92-88 a los Orlando Magic en el quinto partido de las semifinales de la Conferencia Este.

La victoria permitió a los Celtics ponerse con ventaja de 3-2 en la eliminatoria al mejor de siete partidos y el sexto se disputará el próximo jueves en el Amway Arena de Orlando.
